After a few weeks/months off to recharge the batteries, we are back to new adventures!
This week, we wanted to tell you more about our top 10 bars in Biarritz area.
I know, as being both sports and nature lovers, ready to climb the Everest (or La Rhune mountain 😉 ), ride Pipeline (or la Madrague beach 😉 ), you might think: “what are those two doing in bars?”. Well, believe it or not, when it comes to beers, we can be as well tough competitors!
Between Biarritz, Anglet and Bayonne, we can say that the choice is not really unllimited… So here is our top 10 of the best bars!
Whether you are a tapas lover, a beer lover, want to play pool or just want to share a beer or a glass of wine with friends at sunset, be sure you will find the bar that fits you in this selection.

All the bars appearing in this article are within less than 15 minutes by foot or by bike from Nami House.
Moreover, the food (with many specialities from Alsace region, good plates and burgers) is excellent with a really good price-quality ratio!
The bar has just been renovated this year, so if you want to play pool or just share a good beer with some friends, this is the place to go.

Rather than staying next to the seaside, don’t hesitate to climb up the stairs and move up to les Halles area.
Always lively, especially during the summer season on Thursdays (and of course during weekends) while the night market takes place, you’ll find many tapas bars and trendy restaurants.
Bar Jean is an institution in Biarritz: everyone knows about it and every single Biarritz inhabitant has undoubtedly been there.
You can either grab a beer or a glass of wine with a few tapas or order food from the menu.
The food is really good though it can be a bit expensive depending on your budget.
Probably the only “real” bar on the seafront, it has a real atmosphere. Open all year round, it is often packed with both locals and tourists. They have good beers, both draught & bottles (including local ones) with a covered terrace for the rainy days.
If you are hungry, try their tartines: you won’t regret it!
Happy hour every Friday between 8-10pm.
Le Kostaldea
Le Kostaldea has an amazing location on top of the cliff, just a 15 minute-walk
from Nami House.
Trendy bar, perfect to have a drink at the sunset and enjoy the beautiful view on Biarritz lighthouse and the ocean.
Small cabane next to petite chamber d’amour/VVF beach, a 10 minute-walk from the Kostaldea. Nice and laid back with a good atmosphere, le lagunak offers both food and drinks for very affordable prices considering its great location!
Grab a beer, a board of saucisson and try to get a table. Or even better: you can taste it directly at the beach 🙂
It can be packed with locals especially during weekends.
Biarritz selection
La tireuse
Located just next to Sainte-Eugénie church on top of old fishing harbour Port des pêcheurs, la tireuse has the best choice of beers you can get in Biarritz area (20 different draft beers, changing every month!), although they can be a bit expensive depending on your budget.

Etxola Bibi
What better way to relax after a surf session at la Côte des Basques than going for a drink to Etxola Bibi ? If you’re not surfing, don’t worry, this is THE spot for a mesmerizing sunset with both ocean and mountain view. This is one of Biarritz’s classic bars, always packed with locals, what can turn into a drawback: you might sometimes queue for a while before getting served. Le bar du marché
Located on the opposite side of les Halles compared to Bar Jean, le bar du marché has the best tapas in town. The choice is not as big as in other places, but the quality is excellent. For us, the best choice in that area!Miguel Café
Great place to spend the evening, Miguel Café located next to the tiny beach plage du Port vieux, has a specific atmosphere: a real effort has been made to customize the bar. The owner was a biker making Miguel Café an unmissable spot for everyone attending Wheels and Waves festival which takes place every year in Biarritz.Anglet selection
La Chope
Since it’sopening in 1982, la Chope is a must!

Les Sardines
Les sardines is one block away from the sea front. They have cheap beers and really good plates of seafood a la plancha: we recommend in particular the mussels, whereas the rillettes de sardines are pretty good and will fill your stomach for an unbeatable price. If you are a party lover, a DJ is mixing during weekends (then it may be overcrowded).Le Kostaldea

Bayonne selection

As any city in the world, Bayonne gets its Irish pub. So if you miss the real pub atmosphere, want to watch a rugby game (no hurling there, sorry for our Irish friends: we’re still trying to figure out where to watch your bloody Irish sport… ) or just want to drink a beer such as Guiness or Kilkenny, Katie Daly’s is for you! They have the cheapest IPA in town! Prices are pretty decent for the quality of the beer, especially during happy hours every day between 6.30-8.30 pm. If you reach that point of the article, I hope you have found your bar (and that you’ll have enough time to try them all 🙂 ). Otherwise, if you don’t see your favourite one, just let us know, we might include it in our ranking! Then you deserve knowing the truth about the featured image of this article: the bar in which I am tasting this incredible margharita is not listed above… it is in Ko Lanta, Thailand 😉 However, some bars over here have such beautiful views on the ocean!
